L’Approdo delle Sirene
“Turn right immediately you have crossed the bridge into Ortigia and we are just before the corner”.
The directions to L’Approda delle Sirene were easy to follow.
On the first floor of an old building on the waterfront, this 7 room B&B is in a perfect position.
Our room was light and airy with a view over the water separating Siracusa and Ortigia.
Simply decorated, it has all you will need including wifi and your own Acer notebook.
Breakfast is served upstairs on the roof terrace and often includes a beautiful cake made by Fiora, the owner.
If you book ahead, cooking classes are also available.
Another option is the 3* Hotel Gutkowski on the other side of Ortigia, also overlooking the sea.
27 rooms are available in two separate buildings at No 18 and No 26, where you check in.
A fabulous roof top terrace overlooks the water
Request room 26 at No 26 and rooms 8 and 3 in the original building or any room overlooking the sea. One of the double rooms, as well as a large single room, open onto another roof top terrace.
A family room is available if you have children with you
Situated in the historic centre of Ortigia, this hotel has history in it’s foundations.
Here you can visit the oldest Miqwe (Jewish Bath) in Europe
As the hotel was once a medieval palazzo, rooms vary in size.
Apartments are also available.
If you are looking for 5* accommodation, try the Hotel des Etrangers et Miramare or the Grand Hotel Ortigia,
Both are in great positions.
Just be sure you stay in Ortigia!
